I always thought it was a joke when, as a young man, I’d hear grown-ups say time goes by so quickly. Turns out they were right. Work, family, and the never-ending homestead projects can tend to make the days blend into one another, for sure. Let’s have a show of hands for those of us who are woefully behind on spring chores!
The latest homestead projects have consisted of disassembling deteriorated raised bed boxes, prepping overgrown beds for new perennials (elderberries, anyone?), getting seeds started under lights on the grow racks, and transplanting out crops that were ready for their final home. Next up is starting more seeds, plumbing in the rain catchment IBC totes (and this time I mean it), and getting those elderberry plants into the ground back by the chicken yard.
Farmer’s market season is also almost upon us. Local followers, I would love to hear your ideas on expanding our local market in Montgomery County, KY. My vision of our market is eventually having to expand the physical footprint of the market because we are overflowing with vendors selling all kinds of homegrown and homemade products. I’m all ears!
Lastly, we will have veggie starts getting ready for sale here in the next few weeks, so please contact us on Facebook Messenger, email at nesteggnursery@gmail.com, or text me at 859-420-9402 and let me know how we can assist you. In addition to plants, freeze-dried candy, and baked products we are now offering pre-assembled wicking/self watering tubs for sale.
Take care and I’ll be updating sooner next time.
