When it rains it pours

Maybe with winter rapidly approaching, I’ll be able to post more. It’s been pretty busy, crazy, and heartbreaking since the post in April (I’m not proud of myself), but it’s too wet to do much outside today and it was sales tax day so I decided to take a minute and put out a post. Thanks, Department of Making You Sad, for making me sit down at the computer for more than five minutes. I guess you’re sort of good for something, after all.

Farmers market season is over for us as the traffic down there has pretty much dried up. It’s kind of good timing as we have a mystery illness in the house, so I’ve been trying to help out more on the inside chores than usual while we run the gauntlet of getting tests scheduled and insurance coordinated. Quick aside, if you have the opportunity and means to retain a direct care/concierge physician DO IT. It is quite the blessing to have a doctor that is entirely on your side and not beholden to insurance companies.

We are preparing now for our county’s annual fall festival, Court Days. The freeze dryers are running 24/7 (thank you still for the extra dryer loan, Mr. and Mrs. Smith), working on small woodworking projects to sell at the festival, and cleaning up the last round of the regular season garden. Before long, it will be time to plant garlic and harvest the fall crops. Along the way we have lost one chicken (apparently just keeled over mid-dust bath šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø), gained five more, and lost a cat this morning (See you on the other side, Frankenstein. You were a sweet girl and the best lap cat ever, even if you were a straight gangster to the other animals in the house.) We are still wet from Hurricane Heline on top of it all. Whew!

If you made it this far through all the rambling, thank you. Someday people will read these. Someday…lol. Until next time!
